Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Super Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yusuke Kanehara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Super Phoenix has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Super Phoenix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yusuke Kanehara!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix misses with a wild combination.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Phoenix throws a low kick, looking for Kanehara's leg but Kanehara calmly moves out of range.

Super Phoenix dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Phoenix rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kanehara moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Phoenix is stalling here. Kanehara is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Phoenix seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kanehara has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kanehara has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Phoenix is proving hard to escape from.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kanehara shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Phoenix manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Well Phoenix has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
