Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yushin Tai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ji Kwon Tae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yushin Tai could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ji Kwon Tae's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yushin Tai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ji Kwon Tae!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tae darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tai looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Tai is trying to get back to full guard.
Tae wants to free his trapped foot but Tai is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Tae wants to stand up but Tai is controlling the position.

Tae gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Tae lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Tae closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tai to the mat! Tai manages to get full guard.

Tae looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tae trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tai's guard.
Tae not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tae pushes down on Tai's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tae really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tae content to control rather than advance.
Tae scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Tai is looking for a sweep. Tae is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tae decides to return to a standing position.
Tai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tae.

Tae moves into range and clinches up with Tai.

Tae's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tae shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Tae seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Tai is holding on tight.
Tai tries to hold on but Tae postures up.
Tae controlling the pace for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tai wants to control but Tae is having none of it.
Tae landing strikes from the mount.
Tae controlling from the full mount.

Tae is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ji Kwon Tae dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Tae decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Tae decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

It looks like Yushin Tai has been cut.

Tae lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tai is trying desperately to improve position.

Tae's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tai is desperately trying to improve his position but Tae has a good base and remains in mount.
Tae scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Tai?
Tae is looking to work his way around to Tai's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Tae controlling his opponent.

Tae stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Ji Kwon Tae seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Tae does no damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tae lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tai at a distance.
Tae lands with a shot to the body.

Tae gets a clinch.
Tae has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tai is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Tae escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tae throws a combination. Tai tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Tae feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tae wants to stand but Tai is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tae not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Tae stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Tai has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Tae.
Tae throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ji Kwon Tae showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Yushin Tai's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tae throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Tai tries to keep at a distance but Tae has taken the fight into the clinch.

Tae breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Tae closes the distance and clinches.

Tae breaks the clinch.
Tae misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tae scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tae decides to stand up, so the ref orders Tai to his feet.
A head kick from Tae lands but Tai takes it in his stride.
Tae misses with a few strikes there.
A nice combination there by Tae.
A right-left combo lands from Tae.
A jab lands there for Tae.

Tae changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tai looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ji Kwon Tae has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tai trying to remain calm as Tae controls from the top position.

Tae stands up and beckons Tai to his feet.

Tae drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tae has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tai is proving hard to escape from.
Tai wants to sweep but no luck.
Tae stands and throws Tai's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tae is staying tight to Tai's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Tae decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tae scores with a body shot.
Tae dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Tae changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tai looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Let's hope that Tae has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Tai can't do much from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ji Kwon Tae comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tae has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
