Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Riley Reaper (ranked 4165 p4p, 4945 weight class) and Breno Bastos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastos connects with a crisp jab.

Bastos clinches up with Reaper and pushes him back against the cage.
Bastos displaying some good clinch control by pressing Reaper up against the cage.

Bastos breaks the clinch.
Reaper moves to clinch but Bastos breaks away
letting Bastos counter with a right hand.
Reaper looks for the body kick but Bastos saw that one coming.

Bastos gets a clinch.

Bastos breaks the clinch.
Reaper swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bastos connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Reaper tries a head kick but it misses.
Bastos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reaper.
Bastos closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bastos throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Reaper's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Bastos dives in looking to finish as Reaper flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Bastos's strikes! Bastos is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Reaper's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Reaper was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
