PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Calton (ranked 4207 p4p, 4311 weight class) and James Allen (ranked 131 p4p, 134 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charles Calton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Allen!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Allen blocks a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allen avoids a kick to the body.
Allen lands an overhand right.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Calton moves out of range of the strikes.
Calton feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Nice body kick there by Calton.
Allen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Calton misses with a low kick.
A little jabbing left from Allen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A slapping body kick lands there for Calton.
Allen throws a lazy right hand but Calton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Calton is looking to counter with head kicks.
Calton moves out of range of the strikes.
As Allen backs away, Calton returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Calton is looking to slow Allen down with leg kicks.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Charles Calton will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Allen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Calton.
Allen just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromCalton.
Allen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Allen on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Calton. Calton obviously looking to wear him down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Calton walks into a stiff left hand from Allen.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Calton lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Allen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Allen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
James Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Allen throws a body punch but Calton moves out of range.
Calton thinks about countering with a head kick.
Calton throws a leg kick but Allen checks it.
Allen looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Calton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And Calton counters with a quick kick to the body but Allen blocks it.
Calton goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Allen let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Calton throws a leg kick but Allen sees it coming and moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Allen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Calton blocks a jab.
Allen digs a good body shot into Calton's ribs.

Allen misses with an uppercut.
Calton jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

James Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Allen stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Calton.
Allen takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Allen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Allen keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
It seemed like Allen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Allen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Allen with a nice cross.
Calton throws a wild body kick that Allen sees coming a mile off.

I would just about give that final round to James Allen.
Well Allen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
