Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Breno Bastos!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

It looks like Sawyer Johnson has been cut.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bastos sprawls well. Bastos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Bastos scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Horrible takedown attempt by Bastos or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson, which made it look bad.

Bastos closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Bastos pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Bastos shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
It looked like Johnson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Bastos.

Sawyer Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bastos walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bastos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
Bastos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bastos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bastos can do anything to dispel that myth.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Breno Bastos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sawyer Johnson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Johnson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bastos defends well and Johnson ends up having to push Bastos into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bastos unleashes a big counter combination but Johnson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bastos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bastos creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Johnson's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Johnson drops to his knees and Bastos pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
