And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Phife.
Machida throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Some wild striking there from Machida.
Shogun Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch combination from Machida misses.
Machida fails to land with a series of punches.

and Phife counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Phife thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Machida's head.

Phife is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Phife lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Phife is looking to advance position but Machida won't allow it.

Machida is trying to stand up here but Phife is controlling him well.
Machida tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Phife slips a nice elbow through Machida's hands, connecting with Machida's forehead.

Phife has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Phife passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Machida!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phife pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Machida manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Phife looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Machida with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Phife seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Machida is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
