PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brayden Abner (ranked 4261 p4p, 5968 weight class) and Joose Simpson (ranked 490 p4p, 552 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brayden Abner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joose Simpson!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abner blocks a jab.
Abner takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like Brayden Abner has been cut.

Simpson drops Abner with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Abner looks back up at him and smiles so Simpson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
A head kick misses from Simpson.
A big left from Simpson misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abner moves out of range as Simpson strikes.
Abner seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Simpson throws out a loose jab but Abner uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abner tries to clinch there but Simpson circles away.

Abner clinches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Abner tries to pull guard but Simpson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Simpson breaks the clinch.
Simpson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Abner.
Abner drops down looking for a counter takedown but Simpson sprawls and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Abner moves out of range as Simpson strikes.

Abner gets a takedown into half guard.
Simpson wants to get back to his feet.
Abner not doing much here.
Abner stops Simpson from getting back to his feet.
Simpson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simpson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Simpson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Abner manages to avoid it.
Abner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simpson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Simpson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Simpson. Abner does a little dance to reset his feet.
Abner throws a leg kick

and Simpson counters with a crisp right hand that drops Abner! Simpson lets Abner back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Abner misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Abner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Simpson counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

After the fight, Joose Simpson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
