Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Konstantin The Russian Giant (ranked 3233 p4p, 4441 weight class) and Davis Gill (ranked 144 p4p, 183 weight class). The Russian Giant comes to the cage accompanied by Soda Popinski Theme. Gill has chosen White Room as his entrance music. Davis Gill acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Konstantin The Russian Giant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davis Gill!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gill fails with the takedown
and Gill takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Gill moves into the clinch successfully.

Gill gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The Russian Giant has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gill is on him like a limpet, forcing The Russian Giant back against the cage.
Gill tries for a takedown. No joy.
Gill is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

The Russian Giant's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The Russian Giant changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gill looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The Russian Giant cracks Gill with a big right hand but Gill just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Gill is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gill looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gill is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but The Russian Giant has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Gill is holding The Russian Giant down, trying to stall.
Gill is looking to get back to his feet here but The Russian Giant is keeping cool and he's managed to take Gill's back.

Gill is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if The Russian Giant gets his way!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gill is trying to break free.

Gill is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The Russian Giant doesn't have the hooks in and Gill manages to turn into his guard.

Gill wants to pass the guard but The Russian Giant is keeping the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gill is stalling here. The Russian Giant is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gill seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and The Russian Giant has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Gill darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The Russian Giant is staying active underneath Gill, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Gill lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Gill stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Gill holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Gill is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. The Russian Giant can't fight it off and eventually Gill manages to take the fight to the floor. The Russian Giant looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gill trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but The Russian Giant manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Gill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Still in half guard, Gill seems content to control.

The Russian Giant pushes Gill away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gill gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gill tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Gill decides to stand up, so the ref orders The Russian Giant to his feet.
The Russian Giant is looking to clinch but Gill is avoiding it.
The Russian Giant slaps away a takedown attempt from Gill, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The Russian Giant attempts a counter takedown but Gill avoids it well and moves away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gill shoots in looking for a takedown. The Russian Giant tries to sprawl out of it but Gill keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Russian Giant manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The Russian Giant changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Davis Gill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Gill moves into range and clinches up with The Russian Giant.
Gill stalling.

The Russian Giant ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. The Russian Giant no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The Russian Giant will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gill engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gill stands and throws The Russian Giant's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gill blocks the strikes from The Russian Giant.

The Russian Giant moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Gill stands and steps away. The Russian Giant gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Gill will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Davis Gill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gill keeps the fight on the outside.

Gill gets a clinch.

Gill successfully pulls guard.

The Russian Giant prevents Gill from getting back to his feet.
The Russian Giant throws a big elbow that misses.
Gill pulls The Russian Giant in close to his closed guard and prevents The Russian Giant from doing any damage or advancing position.
The Russian Giant controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Gill working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Russian Giant doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Russian Giant manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The Russian Giant loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The Russian Giant slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Konstantin The Russian Giant.
I think The Russian Giant has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
