Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Phelps (ranked 4544 p4p, 4091 weight class) and BJ Penncil (ranked 493 p4p, 447 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Phelps has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Phelps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Penncil!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phelps lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Phelps.
A right-left combo lands from Phelps.
Phelps dives in and grabs Penncil's left leg, looking for a takedown. Penncil pushes down on Phelps's head and hops out.
Phelps looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penncil is fending him off so far but Phelps persists. Nope, Penncil circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Phelps. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Phelps gets tackled into the cage by Penncil. Penncil maintains the clinch.
Penncil misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Penncil escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Phelps tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Penncil defends well and Phelps ends up having to push Penncil into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Penncil has Phelps pushed against the cage.

Penncil avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

As Penncil tries to get set, Phelps tries to push him back and clinch up but Penncil manages to avoid the attempt.
Penncil shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Phelps counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Phelps.
Penncil is struggling to control the position.
Penncil manages to break the clinch.
Penncil is looking to clinch.

Penncil goes for a double leg but Phelps avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Phelps continues to drive forward.
Penncil keeps the fight on the outside.
Phelps has Penncil up against the cage in a clinch.
Phelps tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Penncil just stands there and leans against the cage.
Penncil has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Phelps seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Penncil can turn it around.
Phelps wants the takedown. Penncil is fighting it off but Phelps persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Penncil's guard against the cage.
Penncil kicks Phelps off and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Penncil shoots in and drives through. Phelps sprawls well.
Phelps is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Penncil steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Phelps.
Penncil checks the leg kick.
Penncil dives in for a single leg takedown but Phelps sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Phelps fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Penncil wants to counter with a clinch but Phelps pushes him away.

Phelps rushes Penncil and presses him up against the cage.
The referee calls for Phelps to work.
Penncil taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Phelps jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Penncil walks away with a smile on his face. Phelps gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Penncil has his takedown stuffed
and Phelps counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A head kick misses from Phelps.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Phelps is defended easily by Penncil.
Phelps is breathing heavily.
Phelps throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Penncil counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Penncil perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Penncil has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Phelps defend it? Penncil steps over the head and cranks it - Phelps is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Penncil!
