Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Glen Hoddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Everett Covington!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Covington.
Hoddle half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Hoddle takes a swing at Covington's ribcage but misses.
Hoddle fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Covington on the side of the head.
Hoddle has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Mentor Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Nice straight punches there by Hoddle. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hoddle.
Hoddle misses the shot to the body.
Covington takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Covington avoids the body shot from Hoddle.
Covington changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoddle tries to avoid it but Covington manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoddle to the ground. Hoddle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Covington ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Covington is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Covington shoots for a takedown but Hoddle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hoddle connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Covington's hands.
Hoddle throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Covington fails with the takedown.
Hoddle thuds a left hand into Covington's body.
Covington blocks a jab.
Covington fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Covington or perhaps it was just good defense by Hoddle, which made it look bad.
Covington has a takedown stuffed.
Covington doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hoddle cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hoddle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Covington.
Glen Hoddle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab lands there for Hoddle.

Hoddle lands with a right hand.
Hoddle ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Covington shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hoddle but Hoddle pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hoddle changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hoddle stuffs the takedown attempt from Covington. Covington gets slowly back to his feet.
Covington on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoddle comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Hoddle scores with a decent looking hook.
Hoddle misses with a body shot.
Hoddle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Covington momentarily.
Hoddle swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Covington.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Covington blocks a head kick by Hoddle.
Covington shoots for a takedown but Hoddle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hoddle bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Covington's head backwards.

Covington is rocked!
Covington shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hoddle but Hoddle pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Glen Hoddle dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Hoddle lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Covington falls backwards - clearly groggy! Hoddle dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Glen Hoddle!
In his post fight interview, Glen Hoddle started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
The defeated Everett Covington had this to say: 'Aw crap!'.
