Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 1986 p4p, 1277 weight class) and Tobias Ball (ranked 259 p4p, 180 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tobias Ball!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ball throws a lazy right hand but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ball throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barnes.
Barnes slips under a jab.
Barnes misses with a right hand
and Ball counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ball throws an overhand right that lands on Barnes's shoulder, as Barnes tries to avoid the shot.
Barnes appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Barnes misses with a few strikes there.
Barnes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ball counters with a stiff right hand.
Ball scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ball avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Ball has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ball is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barnes connects with a nice short shot to Ball's temple.

Ball tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ball wants to hit a sweep here but Barnes passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ball there!

Barnes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Barnes.

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ball's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Barnes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ball is on top in guard.

Ball has gone for a leg lock! Barnes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ball's guard.

Ball's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ball pulls Barnes in close to prevent any damage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Barnes will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Ball stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ball wants it to stay on the feet.
A little jabbing left from Ball on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

A decent looking cross lands there for Ball.
Ball swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Barnes.

Barnes feints and then cracks Ball's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ball down.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Barnes.

Barnes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Tobias Ball has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tobias Ball comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Barnes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Don Barnes spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
