Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keegan Bellemare (ranked 3945 p4p, 4177 weight class) and Tad Reeves (ranked 332 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keegan Bellemare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tad Reeves!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reeves closes the distance and clinches.

Reeves pulls guard successfully.
Bellemare would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Reeves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bellemare. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Reeves is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Bellemare misses with an elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reeves works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Bellemare manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Reeves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bellemare napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Reeves is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
It looks like Reeves might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Reeves cracks Bellemare with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Reeves controls the position.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bellemare is pushing Reeves's head away, looking to escape. Reeves manages to hold on to the position though.
Reeves is working Bellemare over with some ground and pound from side control.
Bellemare tries to escape but Reeves is in control.
Bellemare might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Reeves is staying tight to Bellemare's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Reeves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bellemare bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Bellemare stands and steps away. Reeves gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Reeves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bellemare manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Reeves dives in and scores a takedown into Bellemare's guard.

Bellemare throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reeves.

Reeves manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Bellemare gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Reeves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bellemare sprawls well initially but Reeves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Reeves stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bellemare to get to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bellemare gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reeves to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Bellemare wriggles free and stands up.

Reeves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bellemare on his heels. He'll look to pass Bellemare's guard now, I'm sure.
Reeves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Reeves tries to free his leg and advance position but Bellemare is retaining full guard.

Reeves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reeves controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Reeves's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Reeves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bellemare swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Reeves counters by moving into the clinch.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reeves can do anything to dispel that myth.

Reeves tries to get back to half guard but can't.

What's Reeves going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Reeves is looking for a sweep.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tad Reeves will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Bellemare's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Reeves feints and as Bellemare raises his hands in defense, Reeves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bellemare wants to get back to his feet but Reeves is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Reeves drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bellemare looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bellemare looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bellemare!

Reeves tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Bellemare stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Bellemare gets tackled into the cage by Reeves. Reeves maintains the clinch.

Bellemare is trying to force a seperation but Reeves has the dominant position.

Reeves is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bellemare can't fight it off and eventually Reeves manages to take the fight to the floor. Bellemare looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bellemare pushes Reeves off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bellemare tries to break the clinch but Reeves is controlling the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bellemare tries to stand but Reeves is controlling from the bottom.

Reeves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bellemare wants to get up but he can't break Reeves's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Reeves is pulling down on Bellemare's head. It's preventing any offense from Bellemare, at least for the moment.
Reeves is continuing to stall.
Bellemare wants to stand but Reeves has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Reeves has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bellemare has had enough of the clinch but Reeves keeps him there for the moment.

Reeves pulls guard effortlessly.
Bellemare is looking to stand up but Reeves won't let him.

Reeves is looking for a triangle but Bellemare pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reeves wants to sweep here but Bellemare controlling him for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Tad Reeves.
I've got Reeves winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
