Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Belyaev (ranked 2146 p4p, 2125 weight class) and Mario Yamasaki (ranked 197 p4p, 194 weight class). Mario Yamasaki will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Belyaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Yamasaki!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belyaev closes the distance and clinches up with Yamasaki, looking for a takedown. Belyaev pushes Yamasaki against the cage but Yamasaki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Belyaev with that takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Yamasaki. No joy for Belyaev on that attempt.
Belyaev definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Belyaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Horrible takedown attempt by Belyaev or perhaps it was just good defense by Yamasaki, which made it look bad.

Yamasaki's coach down at Brotherhood MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Yamasaki's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Yamasaki has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Belyaev has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Belyaev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Belyaev connects with a nice short shot to Yamasaki's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamasaki has his hands clasped together around Belyaev's back. He's all about the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belyaev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belyaev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yamasaki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
