Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Laird (ranked 3953 p4p, 4117 weight class) and Trevor Trevor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Laird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Trevor!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ron Honeybunn and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Laird gets tackled into the cage by Trevor. Trevor maintains the clinch.
Trevor working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Laird jumps guard but Trevor turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Laird's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Trevor prevents Laird from breaking the clinch.
Trevor scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Trevor.
Laird takes a shot to the head.
Trevor pushes Laird back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Trevor lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Laird tries to score a body lock takedown but Trevor shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Laird wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Trevor lands a body punch in the clinch.
Laird is breathing heavily.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Laird.
Trevor lands a left hand.

Trevor throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Trevor's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Trevor takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Trevor lands with a right to the head.

Laird gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Trevor regains guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trevor working a defensive guard but Laird passes into half guard.

Laird is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Trevor doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Laird.
Trevor is trying to maintain the position but Laird is very close to passing his half guard.

Laird not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Laird looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Trevor wants to improve his position but Laird is controlling well.
Laird passes the guard and advances to mount!

Laird throws some wild stikes that Trevor manages to avoid easily.

Trevor holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Laird tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Trevor Trevor will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Trevor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Laird.

Laird drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Laird is stalling in the full guard.
Laird seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Trevor for as long as he can get away with.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Laird accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Trevor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Laird controls the pace.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Laird is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Trevor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laird. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trevor is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Laird scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Laird working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Trevor's head.
Trevor keeping moving, preventing Laird from controlling successfully.
Laird slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Laird shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Trevor as he avoids it easily.

Trevor drives through and clinches with Laird against the cage.

The referee calls for Trevor to work.

Trevor Trevor seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Laird ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Laird no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Laird is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Laird bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Trevor's guard.

Trevor has control of Laird's left arm, preventing Laird from doing any damage.
Laird wants to control from the top but Trevor keeps moving.
Laird controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Laird has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Trevor looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Laird lands a couple of digs.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Trevor wants to clinch.
Trevor tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Laird half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Laird shoots in for a takedown but Trevor shows good takedown defense.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trevor throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lairds head.

Trevor is pushing Laird up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Trevor lands with a light punch inside.
Laird is working for takedown but Trevor is calmly controlling the position for now.
Trevor pushes Laird back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Oh Laird is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Trevor drops Laird onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Laird is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Come on Trevor - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Trevor Trevor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Trevor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
