Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyle Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Galarza!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson stuffs the takedown attempt from Galarza. Galarza gets slowly back to his feet.
Nelson throws a series of punches but Galarza avoids them all with ease.
Nelson sets himself, and Galarza steps forward looking for the clinch! Nelson avoids it this time.
Galarza tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nelson defends well and Galarza ends up having to push Nelson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nelson appears to be looking for a big counter.
A punch combination from Galarza misses.
Galarza shoots in for a double leg but Nelson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kyle Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Galarza.
Galarza slips a jab and a cross from Nelson.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Galarza has had enough of the clinch but Nelson keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Galarza has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nelson after a bit of a struggle.

Galarza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson misses with a kick to the body.
Galarza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nelson as he avoids it easily.
Galarza looks winded!

Nelson forces Galarza back against the cage and clinches.

Galarza escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

It looks like Daniel Galarza has been cut.
Galarza misses the shot to the body.
Nelson keeps the fight on the outside.
Nelson scores with a hook to the body. Galarza takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Nelson throws a head kick that misses.
Nelson is looking to land body kicks.
Kyle Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Galarza fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Galarza circles away from the clinch attempt.

Galarza throws a big counter head kick but Nelson avoids it with no problem.
Galarza shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Galarza gets slowly back to his feet.
Nelson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Galarza walks into a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Galarza throws a lazy right hand but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nelson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Galarza wants to counter with a clinch but Nelson pushes him away.
Galarza drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

That has opened up Daniel Galarza's cut even more.

Nelson rushes Galarza and presses him up against the cage.

Galarza pulls guard.
Nelson pushing down on Galarza's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nelson content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson moves into full mount! Galarza won't be happy about that!
Nelson lands a heavy elbow.

Nelson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Galarza turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Nelson off and cradles Galarza's limp body as Nelson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Kyle Nelson!
