PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Minatay Mibangon (ranked 24238 p4p, 24260 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 19 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Minatay Mibangon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Mibangon looks for a takedown but Buut sprawls well.
Mibangon shoots in looking for a takedown but Buut manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mibangon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Buut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mibangon sprawls well initially but Buut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mibangon tries to roll over but Buut keeps him under control.

Mibangon is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Mibangon is looking for a sweep. Buut is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mibangon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buut.
Mibangon thinks about countering with a body kick.
Mibangon throws a wild body kick that Buut sees coming a mile off.
Buut shapes to counter with a head kick.

Buut fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mibangon to the ground. Buut is now in Mibangon's guard.

Mibangon controlling the position.
Buut not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Buut pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mibangon is keeping the position for now.
Buut throwing strikes from guard but Mibangon blocks nicely.
Buut controlling from the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mibangon looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Buut throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buut darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Walay Buut dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Buut closes the distance and clinches up with Mibangon, looking for a takedown. Buut pushes Mibangon against the cage but Mibangon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Buut trying to control here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buut is controlling Mibangon's trapped leg to prevent Mibangon from advancing to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mibangon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mibangon is just content to waste time from the top position. Buut takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Mibangon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Buut shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mibangon is trying to defend but Buut finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Walay Buut has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mibangon is controlling Buut's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Buut slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mibangon gets back to full guard.
Buut controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Buut is continuing to stall.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Minatay Mibangon will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Mibangon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Buut manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Buut trying to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buut has control of Mibangon's left arm, preventing Mibangon from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buut can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mibangon controls the pace.
Mibangon is fighting to break Buut's control of his arms but Buut is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Buut tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buut tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mibangon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buut somewhat.

Buut manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mibangon on his heels. He'll look to pass Mibangon's guard now, I'm sure.

Mibangon pulls Buut in to control the position.
Buut trying to control the position from guard on top but Mibangon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Buut won't allow Mibangon to sweep him here.
Mibangon pulls Buut in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Buut sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Buut slips nicely into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Minatay Mibangon.
I think Mibangon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
