Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mama Tosen (ranked 38 p4p, 163 weight class) and Edson Bidon Barbosa (ranked 10 p4p, 17 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mama Tosen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edson Bidon Barbosa!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tosen jabs Barbosa to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Tosen moves into the clinch.
Barbosa prevents a body shot from Tosen.
Barbosa digs a right hand underneath Tosen's ribcage. Tosen let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Tosen successfully pulls guard.

Tosen is looking for a triangle here but Barbosa uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Tosen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Tosen stops Barbosa from getting back to his feet.
Tosen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Barbosa tries to kick Tosen off but Tosen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Tosen works his way into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Tosen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Barbosa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barbosa is not content to let Tosen control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Barbosa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Tosen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Barbosa is not content to let Tosen control the position.

Barbosa is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Tosen advances to full mount.
Barbosa is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Tosen motions for Barbosa to come forward. Tosen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Barbosa counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Barbosa takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Mama Tosen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Barbosa counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Barbosa lands a nice hook to Tosen's body. Tosen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mama Tosen is winning the standup battle so far.
Barbosa takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

enabling Barbosa to counter with a crisp jab.

Tosen on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Barbosa is rocked!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Tosen.
Barbosa doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Barbosa is still on wobbly legs! Can Tosen finish him?
Barbosa throws a hook to the side of Tosen's head but Tosen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Barbosa seems to have recovered his senses.
Tosen throws a body shot but no joy.
Barbosa only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Tosen missing with a left hand there. Barbosa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Barbosa looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Barbosa has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Barbosa there as he acknowledges the shot.
Tosen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Tosen misses with a head kick.
Tosen lands a front kick.
The fighters circling - Barbosa throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Tosen lands a jab to the head.

Tosen cracks Barbosa with a big right hand and Barbosa goes down!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tosen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Tosen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barbosa is keeping the position for now.
Tosen stays in close to Barbosa's body and controls the position.
Tosen is looking to pass into half guard but Barbosa pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Barbosa is in guard.

Tosen wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Barbosa is now in half guard.
Tosen won't allow Barbosa to pass to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mama Tosen dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Tosen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Barbosa. That did some damage!

Tosen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Barbosa tests Tosen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tosen cracks Barbosa with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Barbosa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tosen can pounce on him.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Tosen and Barbosa goes tumbling to the canvas! Tosen follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tosen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Tosen tries to pass to full mount but Barbosa defends it.
Tosen is taking a breather. Barbosa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Edson Bidon Barbosa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tosen uses his free foot to push down on Barbosa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Barbosa.
Tosen tries to control but Barbosa wriggling away.
Tosen looking to control and managing it successfully.
Barbosa flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Barbosa trying desperately to get to his feet.
Barbosa is squirming around, avoiding Tosen's attempts to control the action.

Tosen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Barbosa is now in Tosen's guard. A big mistake from Tosen there, giving up the dominant position!

Tosen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Barbosa escapes and throws Tosen's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Mama Tosen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Tosen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
