Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurtev moves out of range as Gomez strikes.
Gomez misses the jab.
Kurtev wants to clinch up but Gomez keeps it at a distance.
Gomez misses with a wild body shot.
Kurtev closes the distance and clinches up with Gomez, looking for a takedown. Kurtev pushes Gomez against the cage but Gomez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kurtev gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gomez is trying to get back to half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kurtev missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gomez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kurtev manages to get himself to full guard.

Gomez wants to pass the guard but Kurtev is keeping the position.

Gomez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kurtev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gomez manages to get himself to full guard.

Gomez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kurtev is pushing down on Gomez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gomez is fighting to maintain full guard but Kurtev has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gomez wants to improve his position but Kurtev is controlling well.
Kurtev lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

It looks like Carlos Gomez has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurtev is nestled in close to Gomez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kurtev winds up and cracks Gomez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kurtev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gomez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kurtev lands a big elbow - Gomez is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Kurtev!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Krisko Kurtev!
