Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Laird (ranked 5100 p4p, 5120 weight class) and Jatt Ji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Laird has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Laird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jatt Ji!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ji has a takedown stuffed.
Laird fails with a takedown attempt.
Laird shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ji as he avoids it easily.
Laird backing away here, and Ji unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Laird bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ji is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Laird asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Laird postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ji is pushing Laird's head away, looking to escape. Laird manages to hold on to the position though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laird lands a decent elbow from side control.
Ji is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Laird has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Laird working the strikes but Ji uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Laird stops Ji from getting back to his feet.
Laird thows a huge punch but Ji dodges it nicely.
Ground and pound from Laird.
Laird looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ji with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ji wants to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ji drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Laird is trying to improve his position.
Ji tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Ji prevents Laird from escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ji wants to stand but Laird has his arm trapped.
Laird is wriggling around trying to escape but Ji has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Laird taps out and Ji picks up the big win! Great work there by Ji!
