The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Breznikov tries to score with a low kick but Beir moves his leg out of the way.

Beir misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Beir appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Leonid Breznikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Breznikov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Beir counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Beir.
Beir ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Beir no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Breznikov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Breznikov wants to control from the top but Beir keeps moving.
Breznikov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Breznikov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Beir haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Beir has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Breznikov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Beir.
