The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson misses the shot to the body.

Pepper shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Pepper is looking for a kimura but Jackson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pepper to get the leverage.
Pepper thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.

Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Pepper wants to pass the guard but Jackson is defending well.

Pepper seems to be looking for submissions.

Pepper looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Pepper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson is looking to escape.
Pepper tries to pass to full mount but Jackson defends it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pepper.

Pepper moves out of range as Jackson strikes.

Pepper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pepper is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jackson tries to kick Pepper off but Pepper keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jackson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Pepper works his way into side control.
Jackson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pepper is controlling him well.

Pepper decides to stand back up. Pepper steps back and let's Jackson get back to his feet.
Pepper is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jackson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jackson digs a good hook to Pepper's body.
Pepper is breathing heavily.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson throws a right and a left that Pepper avoids nicely.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Pepper avoids it well.
Pepper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson misses with a body shot.
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pepper circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Pepper backs up against the ropes.
Jackson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Pepper gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jackson lands with a left to the head.
Pepper takes a shot to the head.
Jackson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Come on Jackson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
A nice right hand lands inside from Jackson.
Jackson misses with a punch on the inside.
Jackson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A nice left hand lands by Jackson.
Pepper tries to score a body lock takedown but Jackson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Nice body punch from Jackson - that landed with a thud.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson lands with a right to the head.
Jackson trying to stall but Pepper improves his position.
Pepper goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jackson prevents it.
Pepper tries for a takedown. No joy.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gus Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson lands with a right and another and another! Pepper is in big trouble! Jackson lands again and this time it's lights out for Pepper! A quality knockout there for Jackson.
