PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Kalevi (ranked 2817 p4p, 3946 weight class) and Knew Bee (ranked 323 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Knew Bee!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalevi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kalevi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kalevi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bee defends it well.
Kalevi working over Bee with some ground and pound. Bee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kalevi winds up and cracks Bee with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kalevi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bee manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Kalevi keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Bee is looking to break free of the clinch but Kalevi has double underhooks.
Bee lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Kalevi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Kalevi moves into the clinch.
Bee wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kalevi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bee fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kalevi is breathing heavily.
Bee misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kalevi.

Bee lands a left and a right that send Kalevi crashing to the mat, dazed. Bee thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mikael Kalevi has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bee throws a combination that misses

and Kalevi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bee is looking for a sweep. Kalevi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bee desperately trying to maintain half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalevi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bee some visible discomfort.
Bee stops Kalevi from passing to mount.
Bee is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kalevi is controlling him well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bee is trying to get back to half guard.

Kalevi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Kalevi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bee's guard.

Kalevi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bee manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bee has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kalevi is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Kalevi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bee gets the underhooks and prevents it.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kalevi just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bee's brow.

Kalevi breaks the clinch.

Kalevi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bee gets full guard.
Bee trying to keep a closed guard but Kalevi is proving a slippery customer.
Bee is pulling down on Kalevi's head. It's preventing any offense from Kalevi, at least for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kalevi drops back looking for a leg! Bee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bee manages to kick Kalevi off! Kalevi jumps back into Bee's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bee is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Knew Bee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kalevi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kalevi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bee bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Bee fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kalevi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bee lands a left and a right that send Kalevi crashing to the mat, dazed. Bee thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Kalevi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Knew Bee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kalevi throws a series of punches but Bee avoids them all with ease.
Bee throws a counter combo.
Bee swings for the body but Kalevi moves out of range.
Mikael Kalevi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kalevi to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bee is trying to keep Kalevi in close.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kalevi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bee!

Kalevi wants to control but Bee postures up.
Kalevi is not content to let Bee control the position.
Bee is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Kalevi is looking to regain half guard here but Bee keeps moving and retains side control.
Bee is looking to take a break and control but Kalevi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Kalevi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kalevi wants to get back to his feet but Bee drags him back down.

Kalevi is trying to escape the position but Bee is controlling the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bee wants to control but Kalevi is keeping him busy.

Bee has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kalevi is on him like a limpet, forcing Bee back against the cage.

Kalevi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bee can't fight it off and eventually Kalevi manages to take the fight to the floor. Bee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mikael Kalevi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kalevi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kalevi is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Knew Bee.
I've got Bee winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
