The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cruz Jr swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jorge Cruz Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mathieu connects with an inside leg kick.
Mathieu tries to bum rush Cruz Jr with a series of wild strikes but Cruz Jr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mathieu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mathieu missing with a left hand there. Cruz Jr was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cruz Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mathieu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fighters circling - Mathieu throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mathieu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cruz Jr.
Mathieu is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Mathieu drops Cruz Jr with a beautiful combination! Cruz Jr stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Mathieu is looking for the KO!

It looks like Jorge Cruz Jr has been cut.

A solid leg kick lands there for Mathieu.
Oh Cruz Jr is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mathieu punishes Cruz Jr's body with a nice straight punch.
Cruz Jr is breathing heavily.
Mathieu delivers a nice body kick.
Cruz Jr steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Mathieu. That one must have hurt.
Cruz Jr walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Mathieu swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

A very excited looking Ernesto Mathieu rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
