Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pinero Chai (ranked 2503 p4p, 2312 weight class) and Klaus Chugman (ranked 305 p4p, 293 weight class). Chai's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Styles P - Off The Ghost. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 3, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pinero Chai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chai jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Chugman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Chugman jumps guard and drags Chai to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Chugman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chai is aware though and is defending well.
Chai would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Chugman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chai can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chugman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chai defends it easily.

Chugman has his foot on Chai's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chai works his way back into a safe position though.
Chugman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chugman walks into a left hand.
Chugman wants to clinch.
A low kick lands for Chai.

Chugman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chugman working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Chai tries to kick Chugman off but Chugman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chugman wants to pass to mount but Chai is defending the position.
Chai looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chugman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chai is just riding it out for now. Chugman eventually gives up the hold.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chugman avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Chugman is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Pinero Chai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chugman tries to pull guard but Chai won't allow it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Some bone on bone action there as Chugman checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Chai fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chugman manages to avoid it.

Chai is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Chugman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chai is fending him off so far but Chugman persists. Nope, Chai circles away and we're back to standing.

Chugman looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Chai is avoiding damage well.
Chugman tries to move to mount but Chai blocks the move with his legs.
Chai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chugman can do to turn this around?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chugman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Chugman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chai keeps working.

Chai explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Chai thuds a left hand into Chugman's body.
Chai throws a jab but it's blocked by Chugman.
Chai missing with a left hand there. Chugman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Chugman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chugman changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Pinero Chai is winning the standup battle so far.

Chugman has taken the fight to the clinch.
I was talking to Chai's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Chai misses with a punch on the inside.
Chugman jumps guard but Chai turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Chugman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Chai gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Pinero Chai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Chugman.

Chugman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Chugman is looking for a triangle here but Chai uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Chai stands up and beckons Chugman to his feet.
Chai throws an overhand right that lands on Chugman's shoulder, as Chugman tries to avoid the shot.

And Chugman tries to counter it with a takedown but Chai pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Chai throws a leg kick but Chugman checks it.
Chai bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Chugman's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chai displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chugman.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chai is looking to stand up but Chugman won't let him.

Chugman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chai defends well.

Chugman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chai gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chai would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Chugman wants to improve his position but instead Chai has moved into half guard.
Chai wants to stand up but Chugman is controlling the position.
Chugman is controlling Chai's trapped leg to prevent Chai from advancing to side control.

Chugman wants to improve his position but Chai is controlling well.
Chugman is looking to control Chai's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chugman avoid being mounted?
Klaus Chugman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Chugman is looking to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chugman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Chai. Chugman does a little dance to reset his feet.

Chai lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Chai throws a chopping leg kick but Chugman manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Chugman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chai tries to avoid it but Chugman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chai to the ground. Chai escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
