PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Riformato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie Dominique (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riformato comes to the cage accompanied by go to sleep. Frankie Dominique told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riformato shoots for a double leg takedown but Dominique sprawls well. He's pushed Riformato's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dominique gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Riformato counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dominique's guard now.

Dominique has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Riformato off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Riformato really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dominique tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Dominique throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Riformato was covering up waiting for the punch and Dominique finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dominique must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dominique postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Riformato shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dominique's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Riformato lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Dominique backs up against the cage.
Frankie Dominique seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Riformato feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Riformato has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Dominique is in real trouble here. Riformato gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Dominique is tapping out! Riformato wins by rear naked choke!
