PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrej Kabak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasily Andreev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kabak comes to the cage accompanied by Alestorm - Keelhauled. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kabak scores with a takedown into Andreev's guard.
Kabak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Andreev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andreev is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kabak tries for a takedown but Andreev manages to get underhooks.
Andreev jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kabak walks away with a smile on his face. Andreev gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Andreev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Andreev has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kabak's face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andreev cracks Kabak with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Andreev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Andreev is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kabak defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kabak seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
