The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton misses with a wild combination.
Adilev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Newton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Adilev is trying to defend but Newton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Newton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adilev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Adilev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Newton's guard.

Adilev is looking to take a break and control but Newton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Newton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adilev is working away from the top position though.
