Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mason Duval (ranked 4632 p4p, 4127 weight class) and Mark Norman (ranked 348 p4p, 334 weight class). The key to victory for Mason Duval has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mason Duval!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Norman!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Norman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Norman controls the position from side control.
Let's hope that Norman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Duval is trying to control Norman's posture but Norman avoids it.
Norman works to advance to full mount. Duval defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Duval has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Duval is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Norman is not going to allow Duval to sit and survive in this position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duval tries to escape the position.
Duval trying to control the action but Norman just sinks the hooks in.
Duval's coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Norman keeps control of the position as Duval tries to break free.
I would not like to be Duval right now.
Duval trying to control but not successfully.

Norman working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Norman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Duval turns into Norman and is now in his guard.
Duval stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Norman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Norman pulls Duval in close to prevent any damage.
Duval trying to control but Norman is working from the bottom.
Norman is pulling down on Duval's head. It's preventing any offense from Duval, at least for the moment.
Norman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Duval manages to get himself to full guard.

Norman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Norman stays in close to Duval's body and controls the position.

Norman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Duval is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Duval has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Norman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duval doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duval manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Duval wants to pass the guard but Norman is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duval accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Norman is adopting a defensive guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Duval avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Norman dominated that round.
That's time! Duval's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Norman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Duval napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Duval tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Norman is cranking Duval's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Duval! He's tightened the choke and Duval is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mark Norman!
After winning the bout, Mark Norman thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
