The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novais falls off balance throwing a combination

and De Lima counters with a takedown into side control.
De Lima lands an elbow.
De Lima scoring with punches and elbows.
Novais tries to get back to half guard but can't.
De Lima tries to move to mount but Novais blocks the move with his legs.
Novais manages to work his way to half guard, despite De Lima's best efforts.
De Lima working Novais over with strikes.
De Lima is nestled in close to Novais, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Novais is trying to maintain the position but De Lima is very close to passing his half guard.
De Lima looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Novais with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

De Lima slips a nice elbow through Novais's hands, connecting with Novais's forehead.
De Lima looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

De Lima stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Novais to get to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Novais enables De Lima to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Novais manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

De Lima connects with a couple of short punches.

De Lima loads up on a big left hand. Novais felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - De Lima looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Novais can't hide his disappointment, as De Lima celebrates the victory.
