Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yurij Stasyuk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Svedberg!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svedberg lands the left hand.
Svedberg cracks Stasyuk with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Stasyuk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Svedberg but Svedberg pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Svedberg moves into the clinch.

Svedberg works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Svedberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Svedberg content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Stasyuk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Svedberg postures up and lands a big shot to Stasyuk's brow.
Stasyuk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Stasyuk is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Svedberg defends it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Svedberg can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stasyuk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Svedberg has his hands clasped together around Stasyuk's back. He's all about the action.
Stasyuk tries to pass the half guard into mount. Svedberg knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Stasyuk is really struggling to control Svedberg but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Svedberg is refusing to be controlled, as Stasyuk sits in half guard.

Stasyuk looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stasyuk goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Svedberg turns into him and now he's in Stasyuk's guard.
Svedberg's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stasyuk is trying to control the position but Svedberg postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Svedberg dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stasyuk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Svedberg connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stasyuk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stasyuk will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yurij Stasyuk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Svedberg throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stasyuk on the side of the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Svedberg passes Stasyuk's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been hearing good reports from Stasyuk's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Stasyuk pushes a forearm under Svedberg's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Svedberg is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Yurij Stasyuk!
Yurij Stasyuk decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
