Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Erik Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grigoriy Chugunov!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chugunov to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Chugunov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Smith looking to control.
Chugunov works over Smith with some ground and pound from guard.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Chugunov from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chugunov is stalling in the full guard.
Chugunov slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Chugunov landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Smith has hold of Chugunov's hands but Chugunov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Chugunov prevents Smith from improving his position.
Chugunov is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Chugunov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Smith taking some punishment here, with Chugunov in his half guard.
Chugunov content to control rather than advance.
Smith throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.
Smith moves into full guard.
Chugunov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Chugunov controlling from the top position.
Chugunov postures up and lands a big shot to Smith's brow.
Chugunov is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chugunov is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Smith is rocked!
Chugunov arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Smith's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Grigoriy Chugunov!
A less than humble Grigoriy Chugunov misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
