The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConnell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kherson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Dalton McConnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kherson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from McConnell.

It looks like Victor Kherson has been cut.
Kherson closes the distance and clinches up with McConnell, looking for a takedown. Kherson pushes McConnell against the cage but McConnell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kherson drops his hands momentarily and McConnell takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

McConnell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McConnell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McConnell.
Kherson shoots in but no luck this time.

McConnell slaps away a takedown attempt from Kherson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kherson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McConnell to score with a decent uppercut.
Kherson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McConnell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kherson was well out of range. Poor timing from McConnell.
Kherson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Kherson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

McConnell circles away from the clinch attempt
and McConnell counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
McConnell scores with a nice strike.
Kherson has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
McConnell bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kherson's head backwards.
Kherson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McConnell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kherson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kherson wants to land a leg kick but McConnell is out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kherson shoots in looking for a takedown but McConnell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kherson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McConnell tries to bum rush Kherson with a series of wild strikes but Kherson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kherson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
McConnell throws a shot to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

McConnell throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Kherson crashing down! Kherson tries to stagger back to his feet but McConnell just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Kherson asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Dalton McConnell tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
