Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sideways Pete (ranked 6060 p4p, 25344 weight class) and Hugh Jaqueman (ranked 535 p4p, 561 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sideways Pete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugh Jaqueman!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pete gets caught flat footed, as Jaqueman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Pete keeping moving, preventing Jaqueman from controlling successfully.
Jaqueman distracts Pete with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jaqueman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jaqueman landing some decent shots from guard.

Pete controls Jaqueman momentarily but Jaqueman frees himself.
Jaqueman trying to control but Pete is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jaqueman is fighting to break Pete's control of his arms but Pete is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jaqueman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pete preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jaqueman wants to control from the top but Pete keeps moving.
Jaqueman tries to free his leg and advance position but Pete is retaining full guard.
Jaqueman stands up over Pete, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jaqueman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pete has his foot on Jaqueman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jaqueman works his way back into a safe position though.
Jaqueman wants to control from the top but Pete keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Pete forces Jaqueman back against the cage and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jaqueman takes an elbow to the temple.

It looks like Hugh Jaqueman has been cut.

Jaqueman gets control of Pete's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jaqueman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jaqueman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jaqueman in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaqueman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jaqueman is trying to control. Pete wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pete trying to get back to full guard but Jaqueman takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Jaqueman working for a guillotine from mount but Pete is in no mood to give up.
Pete tries to hold on but Jaqueman postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Poor strikes thrown by Jaqueman there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Jaqueman connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Pete tries to lock up and control but Jaqueman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Pete looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Jaqueman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jaqueman throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Pete because Jaqueman loaded up on that one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pete sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Jaqueman is nestled in close to Pete, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jaqueman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Pete is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Jaqueman trying to control from Pete's half guard. Pete has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Jaqueman has gone for a leg lock! Pete slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jaqueman's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pete sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Pete moves into the clinch.
Pete comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Pete on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Jaqueman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pete uses from the top position.
Jaqueman looking for a sweep. Not yet Jaqueman, not yet.
Pete slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pete postures up.
Pete seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pete trying to control the position from guard on top but Jaqueman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jaqueman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pete manages to get himself to full guard.


Pete has his feet on Jaqueman's thighs here. He's pushed Jaqueman off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Jaqueman screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
