PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kristof Pardi (ranked 2711 p4p, 2610 weight class) and Ishmael Egyptian (ranked 249 p4p, 236 weight class). Pardi comes to the cage accompanied by Party Boy Theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kristof Pardi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ishmael Egyptian!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egyptian blocks a jab.
Egyptian scores with the left hand. Pardi knows he should have avoided that one.

Pardi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Egyptian to the ground. Pardi is now in Egyptian's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pardi gets to his feet. Egyptian looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pardi.
Egyptian is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Pardi postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Egyptian to stand up.

Egyptian shoots in and gets a takedown into Pardi's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pardi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Egyptian gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pardi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Egyptian slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Pardi wants to improve his position but Egyptian is controlling well.

Egyptian is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Egyptian is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pardi reverses the position - he's now on top in Egyptian's guard.

Egyptian working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pardi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pardi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Egyptian has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Infamous Duranto Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Pardi throws a lazy right hand but Egyptian sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pardi wants to clinch up but Egyptian keeps it at a distance.

and Egyptian cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kristof Pardi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Egyptian darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Pardi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Egyptian.
Egyptian lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Pardi backs up against the cage.
A decent looking cross lands there for Pardi.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Egyptian is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Pardi is keeping busy.

Pardi tightens his grip and picks Egyptian up, before dumping him to the ground. Egyptian manages to land in guard.

Egyptian uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pardi.

Egyptian tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pardi swivels and escapes.

Pardi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Egyptian to the mat! Egyptian manages to get full guard.
Pardi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Egyptian has his foot on Pardi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pardi works his way back into a safe position though.

Egyptian has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pardi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A close second round but Ishmael Egyptian will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Pardi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Pardi is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Pardi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Egyptian on his heels. He'll look to pass Egyptian's guard now, I'm sure.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kristof Pardi.
I think Pardi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
