PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Babcock (ranked 838 p4p, 1428 weight class) and Kimmo Peramaki (ranked 119 p4p, 193 weight class). Babcock comes to the cage accompanied by San Francisco Live Medley. Kimmo Peramaki is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Babcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kimmo Peramaki!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Babcock feints and then cracks Peramaki's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peramaki down.
Babcock pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Babcock.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Babcock lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Peramaki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Peramaki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Peramaki's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Peramaki stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Babcock.

Babcock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peramaki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Babcock has managed to get both his arms back between Peramaki's legs - danger averted.

Peramaki is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Babcock pulls his head out easily.
Babcock seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peramaki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Peramaki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Babcock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
