PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kamehameha The King (ranked 4033 p4p, 4142 weight class) and Marcelo Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kamehameha The King has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kamehameha The King !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Castro!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro walks into a jab.

It looks like Marcelo Castro has been cut.
The King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Castro takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Castro lands with a shot to the body.
Castro tries to move into range but The King moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The King tries to score a power double leg takedown but Castro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten The King somewhat.
Despite the aggression on Castro's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
No luck for The King with that takedown attempt.

Castro fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The King sprawls well initially but Castro persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Castro content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The King keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Castro working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

It looks like Castro might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Castro closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Let's hope that Castro has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The King on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if The King tries to get out of the position.

Castro takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Castro connects with a nice short shot to The King 's temple.
Castro is trying to control the action in half guard but The King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Castro seems content to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! The King 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The King gets a double leg takedown into Castro's guard.
Castro manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The King manages to get himself to full guard.

Castro is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The King is not content to let Castro control the position.
Castro is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Castro has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Castro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Castro closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Castro lands in his opponent's guard.
The King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Castro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Castro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Castro drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Castro wants to lay and pray for a moment but The King keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Castro slows the pace down.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Marcelo Castro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

The King uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Castro has time to react.

The King is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The King is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Castro is controlling him well.

Marcelo Castro comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Castro winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
