The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thornton darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
It looks like Mike Gunner has been cut.
Gunner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Thornton swivels and escapes.
Thornton throws a chopping leg kick but Gunner manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gunner throws a hook to the side of Thornton's head but Thornton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Thornton misses the jab.
Thornton misses with a two punch combination.
Mike Gunner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gunner misses with a body shot.
Gunner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thornton manages to avoid it.
Thornton slips a jab from Gunner.
Gunner feints and as Thornton raises his hands in defense, Gunner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thornton is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thornton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Thornton fails to land with a series of punches.
Gunner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thornton.
Gunner misses with a combination
and Thornton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No luck for Gunner with that takedown attempt.
Gunner takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Gunner throws a body punch but Thornton moves out of range.
Thornton tries a head kick but it misses.
Gunner misses with a wild combination.
Thornton connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Gunner to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Thornton!
