PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caio Victor (ranked 605 p4p, 737 weight class) and Alika Hakekia (ranked 91 p4p, 111 weight class). Hakekia has chosen Nation Of Violence as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Summer Carpenter and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakekia lands a head kick. Victor smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Hakekia misses with a two punch combination.
Victor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hakekia.
Victor chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hakekia can pounce on him.
Victor connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hakekia. Hakekia circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Victor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hakekia napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Victor tries to move to full mount but Hakekia actually manages to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Victor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Victor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hakekia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hakekia looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Victor thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Victor goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hakekia has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Victor but great work by Hakekia.
Hakekia wants to take a breather but Victor manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Hakekia.

Victor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hakekia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hakekia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Victor wants to sweep here but Hakekia controlling him for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Caio Victor will probably get the nod.

Victor shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hakekia is trying to defend but Victor finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Victor has picked Hakekia up - he's going for a ride! Victor dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Victor swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hakekia is now in Victor's guard. A big mistake from Victor there, giving up the dominant position!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Victor looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hakekia has picked Victor up and slammed him! Victor can't keep hold of the triangle and Hakekia manages to pass to side control!

Victor tries to roll over but Hakekia keeps him under control.
Hakekia is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hakekia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Victor tries to get to full guard but Hakekia has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alika Hakekia will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Victor's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hakekia connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Victor scrambles back to his feet.

Victor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hakekia's waist but Hakekia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Victor off to one side.
It seemed like Hakekia was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Hakekia walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Victor checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

and Hakekia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Hakekia clobbers Victor with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Hakekia throws a hook to the side of Victor's head but Victor sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Victor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hakekia lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hakekia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hakekia lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Victor has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Victor and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Hakekia leaves Victor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Victor shoots in for a takedown but Hakekia shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
