Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Bukowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Distefano!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Distefano chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bukowski can pounce on him.
Distefano misses with a straight left.
Bukowski scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A slow jab from Distefano misses its intended target.
Distefano is looking to land body kicks.
Bukowski throws a looping overhand right but Distefano ducks down to avoid it.
We've been told by Bukowski's head coaches at Soul Supremacy Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bukowski lands a right hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Distefano drops Bukowski with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bukowski looks back up at him and smiles so Distefano waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Distefano is looking to clinch but Bukowski is avoiding it.

Distefano keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Bukowski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Distefano is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A close round but Eric Distefano will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bukowski throws a right hand that Distefano ducks under and follows up with a left that Distefano also avoids with ease.
Despite the aggression on Distefano's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Charles Bukowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

letting Distefano counter with a right hand.
Bukowski throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Distefano stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Distefano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bukowski.

and Distefano counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Distefano.

Bukowski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Distefano has time to react.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bukowski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Distefano sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bukowski somewhat.

Bukowski lands an uppercut.
Distefano tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bukowski is trying to push Distefano away but Distefano has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Distefano tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Bukowski gets control of Distefano's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bukowski will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Eric Distefano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Bukowski closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Distefano to the mat! Distefano manages to get full guard.

Bukowski throws a strike but Distefano rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Distefano must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bukowski is trying to keep Distefano in close.
Bukowski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eric Distefano is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Charles Bukowski.
I think Distefano has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
