PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Panzerotti (ranked 3526 p4p, 3619 weight class) and Timothy McMahon (ranked 370 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Timothy McMahon was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frankie Panzerotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timothy McMahon!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMahon slaps away a takedown attempt from Panzerotti, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As Panzerotti backs off McMahon throws a huge counter combo but Panzerotti manages to avoid it all.
McMahon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McMahon shoots in but Panzerotti avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McMahon rushes Panzerotti and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Panzerotti is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McMahon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
McMahon is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

McMahon has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Panzerotti uses from the top position.
Panzerotti passes McMahon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McMahon wants to get back to full guard.

Panzerotti is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McMahon sees it coming and defends easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Panzerotti accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McMahon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Panzerotti's corner is telling him to maintain position.
McMahon is trying to keep Panzerotti in close.
Panzerotti slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Panzerotti will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Panzerotti gets tackled into the cage by McMahon. McMahon maintains the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, McMahon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

McMahon pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Panzerotti is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Panzerotti is looking for a kimura but McMahon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Panzerotti to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McMahon wants to improve his position but Panzerotti is controlling well.

Panzerotti is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McMahon has managed to free his arm - good work.
McMahon wants to control but Panzerotti is keeping busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's time! Panzerotti's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Panzerotti attempts a counter takedown but McMahon avoids it well and moves away.
Panzerotti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

McMahon tries to close the distance and clinch but Panzerotti swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McMahon rushes Panzerotti and presses him up against the cage.

McMahon has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Panzerotti clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Panzerotti is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Panzerotti turns into McMahon and is now in his guard.

Panzerotti is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Panzerotti is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Panzerotti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McMahon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Panzerotti in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. McMahon tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Panzerotti!
