Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Roddick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Roddick.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roddick as he avoids it easily.

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.
Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Roddick tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Gracie wants to take a breather but Roddick is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roddick wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Roddick is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Gracie is working for a guillotine from mount but Roddick frees his head quite easily.
Gracie sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gracie wants to control the pace but Roddick is squirming around nicely.
Roddick is wriggling around trying to escape.

Roddick tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Roddick is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gracie has control of Roddick's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Roddick regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Roddick reaches up and holds on to Gracie to control the position.
Roddick tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gracie won't let Roddick get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

and Roddick counters with a head kick.
Carlos Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Roddick has a takedown stuffed.
A nice inside leg kick there by Roddick. That's going to slow Gracie down.

and Roddick counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roddick can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roddick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Roddick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Roddick!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Roddick wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Roddick is trying to stand but he's just given Gracie his back.

Gracie working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Roddick is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Gracie has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Roddick taps out!
