Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rex Gunn (ranked 301 p4p, 1106 weight class) and Kastav Kvinchal (ranked 22 p4p, 74 weight class). Gunn's entrance music is Miami. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rex Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kastav Kvinchal!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Kvinchal gets the takedown into side control.
Kvinchal misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Gunn tries to improve position but can't.
Kvinchal advances to full mount.
Kvinchal looking to control but Gunn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Poor strikes thrown by Kvinchal there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Gunn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kvinchal defends it well.

Kvinchal might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gunn haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kvinchal got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gunn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kvinchal has managed to get both his arms back between Gunn's legs - danger averted.

Gunn has his foot on Kvinchal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kvinchal works his way back into a safe position though.

Kvinchal slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kastav Kvinchal dominated that round.
That's time! Gunn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gunn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rex Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kvinchal dives in and grabs Gunn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gunn pushes down on Kvinchal's head and hops out.
Gunn looks to throw the jab but Kvinchal is out of range.
Kvinchal changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Gunn misses the shot to the body.
Gunn misses with an uppercut. Kvinchal saw that one coming.
Gunn connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kvinchal's hands.

Kvinchal shoots in for a takedown but Gunn shows good takedown defense.
Kvinchal displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gunn throws out the jab.
Gunn throws a shot from downtown. Kvinchal moves away and avoids it.
Gunn rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kvinchal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gunn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kvinchal sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rex Gunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kastav Kvinchal.

Gunn misses with a hook.
Gunn is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Gunn looks to land a right hand but Kvinchal moved out of range.
Gunn throws a body shot but no joy.
And Kvinchal tries to counter it with a takedown but Gunn pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Kvinchal tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Gunn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kvinchal looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kvinchal shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gunn napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gunn tries to bench press Kvinchal off him but Kvinchal keeps the position.

Kvinchal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gunn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kvinchal stacks Gunn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kvinchal!

Kvinchal is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gunn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rex Gunn will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Gunn throws a body shot but no joy.
Gunn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kvinchal was well out of range. Poor timing from Gunn.
Kvinchal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gunn.
Gunn feints a jab promting Kvinchal to slip. Gunn then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kvinchal slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Kastav Kvinchal has been cut.
Gunn misses the jab.
Kvinchal slips a straight right by Gunn.

Kvinchal drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gunn looking for subs off his back but Kvinchal has passed one foot through into half guard.
Gunn wants to control the action here but instead Kvinchal manages to pass to full mount!

Kvinchal is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gunn can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kvinchal lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kvinchal looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Kvinchal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kvinchal sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Kvinchal is working to tighten his grip on Gunn's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Gunn has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Kvinchal is really squeezing tight and eventually Gunn passes out! Kvinchal breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
