Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gonzo Latulipe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzo Latulipe is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nicholas Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gonzo Latulipe!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Latulipe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing.
Latulipe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Castle is keeping the position for now.
Latulipe wants to stand but Castle is controlling his posture from full guard.
Castle is trying to control the position but Latulipe postures up.

Latulipe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Castle dives on top into guard.

Castle postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Latulipe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Castle, into his guard.
Castle wants to sweep but no luck.

Castle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Latulipe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Castle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Castle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Castle!

Castle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Latulipe, who protects the arm well.

Castle scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Latulipe to see if he's OK.
Latulipe is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Castle has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Castle throwing strikes but Latulipe manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Castle manages to work his way to half guard, despite Latulipe's best efforts.

Latulipe postures up in Castle's guard and throws a big left but Castle blocks it.

Castle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Latulipe!

Castle is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Latulipe looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Castle has closed the distance and engaged Latulipe in a clinch.
Castle fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Latulipe keeps control of Castle as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Latulipe wants the takedown. Castle is fighting it off but Latulipe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Castle's guard against the cage.

Latulipe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Castle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Castle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Castle tries to stand but Latulipe is controlling from the bottom.

Castle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Castle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Latulipe takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

You can see the frustration on Latulipe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Castle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Castle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Castle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Latulipe gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Latulipe manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Castle is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Latulipe rolls with it to try and escape but Castle cranks on the arm and Latulipe is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
