PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fidelity Castro (ranked 1936 p4p, 2056 weight class) and Rich Mahogany (ranked 261 p4p, 280 weight class). Mahogany has chosen Litty as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fidelity Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rich Mahogany!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahogany clobbers Castro with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mahogany moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Mahogany throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Castro counters with a nice uppercut.
Castro defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mahogany.
As Mahogany backs away, Castro returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Mahogany doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Castro counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Mahogany fails with a takedown attempt.
Fidelity Castro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rich Mahogany.
Mahogany changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Castro tries to avoid it but Mahogany manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Castro to the ground. Castro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

It looks like Rich Mahogany has been cut.

and Castro counters with a stiff right hand.
Mahogany avoids a kick to the body.
Castro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Castro swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Mahogany fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Castro sprawls well initially but Mahogany persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mahogany stops Castro from getting back to his feet.

Mahogany seems to be working for a kimura but Castro defends the submission attempt.

Mahogany is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Castro has managed to free his arm - good work.
Castro is trying to stand up here but Mahogany is controlling him well.

Castro manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mahogany keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Castro manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mahogany or perhaps it was just good defense by Castro, which made it look bad.
Mahogany throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mahogany darts in and clinches Castro up against the cage.

Castro is pushing Mahogany up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Castro wants to stand and escape but instead Mahogany has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Mahogany prevents Castro from getting back to his feet.
Mahogany postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mahogany throws a big right hand that misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fidelity Castro will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Rich Mahogany's cut.
That's time! Castro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mahogany changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Castro tries to avoid it but Mahogany manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Castro to the ground. Castro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mahogany is working an open guard so Castro takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Mahogany looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Castro is fending him off so far but Mahogany persists. Nope, Castro circles away and we're back to standing.

and Castro counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mahogany thinking.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Rich Mahogany seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Castro has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Mahogany is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mahogany uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Castro.

Castro has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mahogany is on him like a limpet, forcing Castro back against the cage.

Mahogany fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Castro has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Castro bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

and Castro counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Castro cracks Mahogany with a hook to the temple - Mahogany is on wobbly legs here! Castro swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Mahogany falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Castro wins by TKO!

Rich Mahogany spoke after the fight, saying 'Congratulations Pice O'Xit. You were a hell of an opponent. I will go home and take solace in my many leatherbound volumes.'.
