Murphy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Black Keys - Little Black Submarines . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Art Bowers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patrick Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Murphy.
Murphy throws out a counter right but Bowers avoids it with no problem.
A head kick by Bowers misses
and Murphy counters with a left to the body.
Bowers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Murphy circles away quickly and effectively.
Nice takedown defense from Bowers. No joy for Murphy on that attempt.
Nice body punch from Murphy.
Bowers misses with a straight right.
A nice side step and Murphy releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Nice uppercut lands for Bowers. That snapped Murphy's head back.
Bowers tries to move into range but Murphy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Murphy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bowers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Murphy's coach down at Blacksmith MMA Gym πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Murphy's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bowers won't be happy with that.

Murphy smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Art Bowers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Bowers counters with a nice uppercut.
We've been told by Bowers's head coaches at New York Public Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Murphy throws a punch but it's blocked by Bowers.

Bowers has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murphy is proving hard to escape from.
Bowers is fighting to break Murphy's control of his arms but Murphy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bowers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Murphy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bowers scores with a jab. Murphy acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
