Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Biggy Times (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shogun Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Biggy Times!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Times shoots for a takedown but Rua saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rua misses with a takedown attempt

and Times counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rua!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Times can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rua is looking to escape.

Times working for a submission but Rua is keeping him at bay.
Rua working to try and regain half guard.
Rua knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Times on the ground.
Times misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rua is squirming around, avoiding Times's attempts to control the action.
Rua wants to hold on but Times pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Times with shots to the head and body - Rua looks very uncomfortable down there.
Times tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Times has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rua tries to hold on but Times postures up.
Times sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rua takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua is trying to escape the mount.

Rua wants to hold on but Times pushes him away.

Times is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Times clinches with his opponent.

Times breaks the clinch.

Rua drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Times struggling a bit here.
Rua tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Rua is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua working away.
Times might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rua kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rua stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Times.
Times is working Rua over with some ground and pound from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rua is trying to control Times's posture but Times avoids it.

Times looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Times scores with a couple of short elbows.
Rua is looking for a sweep.
Rua is not content to let Times control the position.
Rua is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Biggy Times dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Times misses with a few strikes there.
Times tries to clinch up.
Rua swats away the attempt to clinch by Times.
No luck for Rua with that takedown attempt.
Times shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice sprawl there from Rua as Times shoots in.

Rua closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rua drags the fight down to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.
Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Times is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Times pushes Rua off and scrambles back to his feet.
Times keeps the fight on the outside.
Times moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.

Times has Rua up against the cage in a clinch.
Times tries to pull guard but Rua holds him up against the cage and eventually Times drops back down to his feet.
Shogun Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Biggy Times.
Rua jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Times walks away with a smile on his face. Rua gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Times, right into the meat.
A cross from Rua lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rua shoots in but Times avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Times misses with a takedown
and Rua counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Times shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rua shoots and misses

and Times counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rua's guard now.

Times gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Rua shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rua showed some decent athleticism there.
Biggy Times has got the better of the ground game so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Times is trying to stand up here but Rua is controlling him well.
Times trying to control but Rua postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Times's thigh. Times counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Times working a defensive guard here.
Rua postures up in Times's guard and throws a big left but Times blocks it.
Times being controlled here, momentarily.
Times wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Times avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rua tries to clinch there but Times circles away.
Times tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Times fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but Times persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Times seems to be looking for submissions.
Rua looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rua is positioning himself well to prevent Times advancing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Biggy Times showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Rua's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Times throws a nice looking combination but Rua bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rua wants to clinch up but Times keeps it at a distance.

Times has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rua stops a takedown attempt from Times.
Rua is stalling here.
Times has had enough of the clinch but Rua keeps him there for the moment.
Rua on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Times slows down the pace here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Times looking to slow down the pace here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Times avoiding damage as Rua throws knees to the body.

Times misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rua.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Times.
Times throws an elbow that misses.
Rua lands a knee to the head.

Rua manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Rua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Times gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Times is looking to stand up but Rua won't let him.

Rua working for a triangle but Times defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rua looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Times passes into half guard.
Rua trying to control here.
Times moves into full mount! Rua won't be happy about that!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Times has hold of Rua's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rua manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Times has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rua's face.
Rua wants to control but Times is having none of it.
Rua is in a horrible position here. Times smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Times takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Times with shots to the head and body - Rua looks very uncomfortable down there.
Rua wants to hold on but Times pushes him away.
Times landing strikes, looking to finish!
Rua wants to control but Times is having none of it.
Rua can't escape the position.
Shogun Rua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Biggy Times is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Times breaks from Rua's wrist control and lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Biggy Times comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Times has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
