Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xandao Couceiro (ranked 2272 p4p, 1469 weight class) and Svend Thorsby (ranked 88 p4p, 54 weight class). Couceiro's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Welcome to my Nightmare- Alice Cooper. Svend Thorsby will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

With a record of 16 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Svend Thorsby!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorsby ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Couceiro moves away.
Couceiro throwing a counter right hand but Thorsby manages to avoid it.
Couceiro missing with a left hand there. Thorsby was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Thorsby! But no joy.
Couceiro misses with a straight left.
Couceiro walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Thorsby misses with a body shot.
Couceiro closes the distance looking to clinch
and Thorsby counters with a nice uppercut.
Couceiro on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thorsby is pressed up against the cage. Couceiro has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thorsby down to the mat. Thorsby avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Couceiro fails to land the takedown.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Thorsby! But no joy.

Thorsby lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Couceiro circles away quickly and effectively.
Thorsby scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Couceiro doesn't seem bothered though.

and Thorsby counters with a crisp right hand that drops Couceiro! Thorsby lets Couceiro back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thorsby blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Thorsby pushes Couceiro back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Thorsby lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Couceiro backwards.

Couceiro tries to pull guard but Thorsby holds him up against the cage and eventually Couceiro drops back down to his feet.

Couceiro is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Thorsby is pushing Couceiro up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Thorsby is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Couceiro jumps guard but Thorsby turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Couceiro tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Thorsby's elbow.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Couceiro.
Couceiro swings wildly with an uppercut but Thorsby uses good head movement to avoid it.

Couceiro is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Thorsby gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Couceiro half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Thorsby has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Thorsby uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Couceiro.
Thorsby thumps Couceiro with a low kick.
Thorsby thuds a left hand into Couceiro's body.
Couceiro takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Couceiro doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Thorsby moves into range and connects with a jab.
Oh Couceiro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Couceiro seems to have got his legs back now.

Svend Thorsby seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Couceiro walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Couceiro limp body while Thorsby jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
