Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikael Kalevi!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De La Cruz pushes Kalevi up against the cage in a clinch.

Kalevi is fighting to break De La Cruz's control of his arms but De La Cruz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

De La Cruz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalevi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now De La Cruz is on top in guard.

De La Cruz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kalevi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

De La Cruz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
De La Cruz wants to pass the guard but Kalevi is keeping the position.

Kalevi working for a triangle but De La Cruz defends it easily.

De La Cruz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Kalevi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. De La Cruz stacks Kalevi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by De La Cruz!
Kalevi is looking to regain half guard here but De La Cruz keeps moving and retains side control.
De La Cruz in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Kalevi is working to avoid the ground and pound but De La Cruz connects with a decent elbow.

De La Cruz decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Jorge De La Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

De La Cruz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kalevi to the mat! Kalevi manages to get full guard.

De La Cruz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kalevi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kalevi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kalevi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but De La Cruz pulls his head out easily.

Jorge De La Cruz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

De La Cruz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

De La Cruz is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
De La Cruz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kalevi is trying desperately to improve position.
Kalevi is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Kalevi has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

De La Cruz is cranking Kalevi's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Kalevi! He's tightened the choke and Kalevi is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jorge De La Cruz!
Jorge De La Cruz spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
