Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Rodriguez (ranked 4257 p4p, 4302 weight class) and Scott Shotz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shotz stuns Rodriguez with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Rodriguez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shotz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rodriguez is in Shotz's guard.
Shotz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rodriguez's guard.

Shotz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodriguez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rodriguez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shotz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rodriguez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shotz on the ground.
Rodriguez keeping moving, preventing Shotz from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shotz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rodriguez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shotz is one step ahead there.

Shotz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Rodriguez can't keep his opponent in guard - Shotz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shotz is pressing down on Rodriguez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rodriguez is holding on for now.

Shotz in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rodriguez tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Shotz!
