PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sal Rizzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hulk Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan has chosen The real American as his entrance music. The key to victory for Sal Rizzo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sal Rizzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulk Hogan!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Hogan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hogan lands in his opponent's guard.

Rizzo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rizzo tries to get out of the position.

Rizzo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hogan has gone for a leg lock! Rizzo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hogan's guard.

Hogan is looking for a triangle but Rizzo pushes his legs off easily.
Rizzo wants to control from the top but Hogan keeps moving.

Rizzo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hogan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hogan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hogan!

Hogan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rizzo, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rizzo is looking for a sweep.
Rizzo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hogan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hogan tries to pass to full mount but Rizzo defends it.
Rizzo strikes from the bottom but Hogan uses the opportunity to move to side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hogan in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Hogan is staying tight to Rizzo's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Rizzo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogan on the ground.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Hogan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rizzo is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hogan wants to finish this one by submission but Rizzo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hogan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Hulk Hogan just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rizzo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Hulk Hogan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Hogan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hogan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rizzo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hogan stops Rizzo from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Hogan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rizzo sprawls well initially but Hogan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hogan is working for a submission of some sort.
Rizzo is trying to stand up here but Hogan is controlling him well.
Hogan is taking a breather. Rizzo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well Hogan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
